56.9 Thousand Hectares of Early Grain Crops Planted in Zhytomyr Region

The planting campaign for early spring crops for the 2025 harvest is actively underway in the Zhytomyr region, demonstrating the strength and resilience of Ukrainian farmers. As of April 10, 2025, a total of 56.9 thousand hectares of early grains and legumes have already been sown across all categories of farms in the region, which is 71% of the projected volume.

Planting of Early Crops

In particular, to date, the following has been sown:

  • 16.5 thousand hectares of spring wheat, or 71% of the planned area;
  • 17.2 thousand hectares of spring barley, which constitutes 78% of the forecast;
  • 19.4 thousand hectares of oats, or 62% of the planned area;
  • 3.8 thousand hectares of peas, which meets 100% of the forecast.

Additionally, households have planted potatoes on an area of about 1.0 thousand hectares, which is 1% of the projected volume.

Winter Crops and Their Condition

It is worth noting that since last autumn, for the 2025 harvest, a total of 134.1 thousand hectares of winter grain crops have already been sown in all categories of farms in the region, which is 13.5 thousand hectares more than for the 2024 harvest. Of this area, 118.4 thousand hectares are occupied by winter wheat and triticale, 9.2 thousand hectares by barley, and 6.4 thousand hectares by rye. In addition, winter rapeseed has been sown on an area of 30.1 thousand hectares. The vast majority of winter grain crops are in good condition.
