Transportation of Agricultural Products by Rail Decreased by 8% in March

During March 2023, Ukrainian Railways transported 1 million 703 thousand tons of grain cargo, which is an 8% decrease compared to February. This was reported by Valeriy Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Transportation Technology and Commercial Operations Department of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”.

Grain Transportation Statistics

In the specified period, 1 million 454 thousand tons of grain were loaded onto the railway network, which also represents a 3% decrease compared to February. The share of grain in the total volume of transportation is 19%.

Export of Agricultural Products

In March, 1 million 542 thousand tons of grain were exported by rail, which is 5% less than in February. The majority of the transportation, specifically 92%, is directed towards seaports.

Regarding the export of oil, cake, and meal, over 50% of the total volume is also headed to the ports. In particular, more than 56% of the oil transportation for export is directed towards the ports. In March, 102.7 thousand tons of oil were transported, which is 19% higher than the February figure.

In March, 146.9 thousand tons of cake and meal were exported, which is a 3% increase compared to February, of which 71% was also transported to the ports.
