Main Suppliers and Seasonal Trends
Among the main suppliers of potatoes for the Ukrainian market this season are the countries of the European Union and Egypt. European producers supplied Ukraine with products from the old harvest, while Egyptian potatoes came from the new harvest.
Price Dynamics in the Imported Potato Market
Analysts in the fruit and vegetable market note that during this period, there was price instability for potatoes. After a brief phase of stability, wholesale prices increased, but since the end of March, a gradual decline in the cost of imported potatoes has been recorded.
“This is a record for the last four seasons and one of the highest figures in history. We imported more potatoes only in the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons,” says the expert.
