Forecast for potato prices
According to Taras Bashtannyk, president of the Ukrainian Fruit and Vegetable Association, the price of potatoes in Ukraine will not drop to last year’s level. Instead of the expected 5 hryvnias per kilogram, the price will be around 10 hryvnias in autumn. By the end of September, the price of potatoes will fluctuate between 9–11 UAH/kg depending on the region and quality of the product.
“There will be no potatoes at 5 hryvnias — it will be 10”.
Increase in sunflower oil prices
Sunflower oil, which is among the main products in the consumer basket, is also showing a trend towards price increases. Experts expect that the retail price for this product may soon rise to 100 hryvnias per liter. The main reasons for this increase are attributed to both internal and external factors, including the impact of the new harvest, which will enter the market in October–November.
Processing enterprises are already warning about possible changes in pricing policy during this period. According to traders’ estimates, premium brands and packaged sunflower oil may rise to 95–100 UAH per liter, which would be a record level since the beginning of 2022.
