According to a labor market study released at the “NadLudy” forum, Ukrainian large enterprises with revenues exceeding 1 billion hryvnias in 2024 increased their workforce by over 22,200 individuals. In total, approximately 1.6 million employees are currently working at such enterprises. The most significant growth in job creation is observed in the sectors of trade, information technology, food industry, machine engineering, pharmaceuticals, and construction.

The increase in the number of employees is partly due to changes in the formal relationships between employers and employees. In particular, the transition of IT specialists to gig contracts contributes to the expansion of staff. Additionally, in 2024, large companies raised the average salary of their employees by 23%. At the same time, enterprises that offer non-material benefits, such as development opportunities, a comfortable atmosphere, and stability, are able to retain staff without significant salary increases.

Aging Workforce and Trends in the Ukrainian Labor Market

The study also notes the aging process of employees: each year, the average age of full-time employees increases by 4-5 months. Currently, the average age of a worker is 37 years and 7 months, whereas in 2024 it was 37 years and 3 months, and in 2023 it was 36 years and 10 months.
