Ukrainian Processors Raise Sunflower Prices by $30–40 per Ton in a Week
The domestic sunflower market in Ukraine has experienced a significant price increase over the past week. The main reason for the rise in prices was the increased demand from Ukrainian processing enterprises amid the global rise in the cost of vegetable oils and a return of confidence in the industry’s prospects.

Price Dynamics and Processor Competition
Ukrainian factories have significantly intensified competition for raw materials, leading to an increase in sunflower prices by $30–40 per ton over the week. The spot index for processing delivery within 30 days rose by $32, reaching $665 including VAT (or $583 excluding VAT). At the same time, export prices for sunflower supplies to Bulgaria remain stable, fluctuating between $620 and $630 depending on the region.
An important factor influencing the market was the cancellation of export duties on sunflower from Ukraine to EU countries starting January 1, 2026. This enhances competition between domestic processing and exporters, as Ukrainian companies gain additional opportunities to sell their products in the European market.
Trends in the Oil and Meal Market
The price of sunflower oil in Ukraine has already reached $1,300 CPT-port, while FOB Black Sea prices have reached $1,380. Meanwhile, sunflower meal is trading at a lower price on a port basis — $220–230 per ton, which is related to limited throughput and low demand. However, demand for meal remains stable at the western border: prices for delivery by truck or rail to the border range from $238 to $245 depending on granulation and product quality.
“A new wave of price increases is observed in the global market: according to the updated USDA report, the forecast for sunflower oil production has been reduced due to lower yields in Russia and Argentina, while global stocks have decreased by 0.3 million tons. This has supported quotations in the EU – average prices in six major European ports have risen by $130 compared to the previous Friday.”
Thus, the Ukrainian sunflower market is currently influenced by both internal and external factors, contributing to further price increases and heightened competition between processors and exporters.
