Ukrainian Producers Will Be Able to Export Up to 5,000 Tons of Soybean Seeds to the EU

The European Parliament’s decision to recognize the equivalence of the Ukrainian certification system and oilseed and beet seeds opens new opportunities for Ukrainian agricultural producers. This is an important step that promotes the expansion of exports and strengthens the position of the Ukrainian agricultural sector in international markets.

Significance of the Decision for the Ukrainian Seed Sector

Executive Director of the Seed Association of Ukraine (SAU) Sюzana Hryhorenko emphasized in her column for AgroTimes that the adopted document will contribute to increasing the export potential of Ukrainian seeds. According to her, it is particularly important that soybean, which recently received equivalence status, is already opening doors for Ukrainian producers to foreign markets.

“For example, only in the soybean sector, which recently received equivalence, Ukrainian producers can already export up to 5,000 tons of high-quality seeds. This could cover up to 50,000 hectares in EU countries. In monetary terms, based on the average market price of premium-class seeds, this could amount to tens of millions of euros annually,” explained Sюzana Hryhorenko.

Future Prospects for Ukraine’s Agricultural Sector

According to her, the opening of European markets for Ukrainian seeds will enhance producers’ confidence in long-term planning and attract investments in the development of the production base. This will serve as an incentive for further growth in the grain and oilseed segments in Ukraine and the Black Sea region.

It is planned that further discussions on the development of the industry will take place during the 23rd International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV, scheduled for April 24 in Kyiv. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in strategic discussions and establish valuable contacts with leaders in the agricultural sector.
