Sunflower Oil and Meal Production: Trends and Forecasts
According to updated data from USDA experts, sunflower oil production in Ukraine for the 2025/26 marketing year is expected to reach 4.73 million tons. This exceeds the previous forecast by 0.2 million tons, but is 0.56 million tons lower than last year’s result of 5.29 million tons.
Additionally, sunflower meal production is forecasted at 4.54 million tons, which is also 0.2 million tons higher compared to the last report, but 0.54 million tons lower than in the 2024/25 marketing year (5.08 million tons).
“Global oilseed production has been raised this month due to increased sunflower seed production in Argentina and Ukraine, despite a decrease in soybean production in Argentina and Ukraine,” the report states.
Global Trends in the Oilseed Market
According to USDA information, despite the challenging soybean harvest situation in several countries, including Ukraine and Argentina, the overall global oilseed production has increased this month primarily due to improved sunflower figures. Such changes may impact export policies and prices in the global vegetable oil market.
