First Experience of Olive Cultivation in Uzbekistan
“For the first time in Uzbekistan, a practical step has been taken towards the industrial cultivation of olives. Under the cooperation agreement signed between the Scientific Research Institute of Horticulture, Viticulture, and Winemaking named after Academician Mahmud Mirzaev and the Georgian company ‘Global Olive Corporation’, 4,200 seedlings of the ‘Gemlik’ variety were brought to Uzbekistan. They were planted at the scientific and experimental station in Bandykhan.”
This project aims to implement modern technologies in the country’s agricultural sector, develop new production capacities, and increase the yield of olive crops. As part of the cooperation, an exchange of experience between specialists is planned, along with scientific research on the care of olive plantations and the adoption of advanced agricultural production methods.
International Experience and Development Prospects
Additionally, in 2024, the Georgian company Georgia Olive Corporation planted the first 10,000 olive tree seedlings in Kazakhstan. There are plans to increase the number of trees to one million and establish a processing plant for olive oil production, which is expected to significantly strengthen the industry in the region.
According to representatives, the development of the oil and grain sector in Ukraine and the Black Sea region will be a topic of discussion at the 23rd International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN, which will take place on April 24 in Kyiv. This will serve as a platform for strategic discussions and the establishment of business contacts among leaders in the agricultural sector.
