Decrease in Prices for Early Produce
The price of last year’s potatoes has dropped to 15-24 UAH/kg, whereas a week ago it was priced at 16-25 UAH/kg. The new harvest of potatoes has also become more affordable: they are currently sold for 65-90 UAH/kg compared to the previous range of 70-110 UAH/kg. A significant decrease in price is also noticeable for early carrots – they now cost 60-70 UAH/kg, although a week ago the price reached 80-85 UAH/kg. Among cabbages, there is a decrease in the price of cauliflower – from 110-120 to 60-70 UAH/kg, which is almost half the price.
Increase in Prices for Certain Vegetables and Fruits
On the other hand, some items are showing an increase in price. Onions have become more expensive amid a reduction in supply – the price has risen to 20-26 UAH/kg from the previous 14-18 UAH/kg. Due to cool weather, supplies of cucumbers from local greenhouses have decreased, leading to an increase in prices for this vegetable to 50-75 UAH/kg (last week it was 25-50 UAH/kg). A similar situation is observed with tomatoes: the maximum price jumped from 95 to 105 UAH/kg, while sweet peppers now cost 120-125 UAH/kg compared to the previous 95-110 UAH/kg. Beijing cabbage has also become more expensive – from 30-35 to 35-45 UAH/kg.
In the greens segment, the price of green onions has increased (to 100 UAH/kg from 95 UAH/kg a week earlier) and lettuce (to 40-50 UAH/kg from the previous 30-40 UAH/kg). However, the price of dill has decreased – it now costs 120-160 UAH/kg, although last week the price reached 160-170 UAH/kg. Due to an increase in supply, prices for asparagus have started to fluctuate within a wider range – 200-350 UAH/kg (compared to 270-300 UAH/kg a week earlier).
At the same time, with the reduction in apple stocks, their price has continued to rise – to 50 UAH/kg. Lemons have also surged in price: the upper limit has increased from 90 to 120 UAH/kg. Oranges have become cheaper – the lower limit of the price has fallen from 95 to 65 UAH/kg. The price range for kiwis has widened – 105-240 UAH/kg, whereas a week ago the price fluctuated between 110-190 UAH/kg. Garden strawberries were sold this week for 180-230 UAH/kg.
