Vegetable Prices Rise in Ukraine Due to Seasonal Increases in Autumn
At the end of October, Ukraine traditionally sees an increase in vegetable prices. The main reason for this rise is not a shortage of products but the beginning of the harvest storage period, during which producers factor in additional costs related to logistics and storage.

Seasonal Factors and Expectations for Key Vegetables
According to Ilya Neskhodovsky, head of the analytical department at the “ANTS” network, the annual autumn price increase for vegetables is a typical phenomenon that lasts mainly until the beginning of winter. During this period, farmers are forced to sell their products in larger volumes to avoid additional costs associated with prolonged storage. Eventually, the market is left with mainly those vegetables that can be stored for a long time.
“When the season ends, products need to be sold in large volumes to avoid spending on their storage. Accordingly, only those vegetables that have long-term storage capabilities remain,” Neskhodovsky explained.
Price Forecasts Until the End of Autumn
The analyst notes that by the end of autumn, the prices of vegetables such as potatoes and cabbage may increase by about 10%, even despite a high yield of these crops in 2025. Price increases also apply to cucumbers and tomatoes, although the prices for these products, which were established in October, are likely to remain stable until the end of the month.
