This spring’s weather anomalies, including frosts, cold, and snow, have negatively impacted the harvest of vegetable crops in Ukraine. This particularly concerns cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers, which have begun to ripen later than planned due to unfavorable weather conditions.

Impact of Weather Conditions on Vegetable Prices

This was reported by the head of the Union of Ukrainian Peasantry, Ivan Tomych, during a broadcast on the “KYIV24” channel. According to him, due to the delayed ripening of vegetables, their prices will rise in the near future.

“This will certainly be reflected in the market — prices will increase.”

Forecasts on the Level of Vegetable Price Increases

The expert added that it is currently difficult to accurately predict the level of price increases; however, a rise is inevitable. He noted that vegetables are already not cheap, and a high dependence on imports will help avoid a sharp price spike.

“There won’t be a drastic increase in prices — thanks to imports. There will still be a balance here. But prices will rise.”
