Wheat Harvest in England Increased by 4.9% in 2025 Due to Expanded Acreage
According to preliminary estimates from the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the wheat harvest in England reached 10.6 million tons in 2025. This is 4.9% higher than last season’s results.

Main Factors for Growth
The primary reason for the increase in total yield was the expanded acreage, which grew by 8.8% to reach 1.5 million hectares. However, the average wheat yield decreased by 3.6%, totaling 7.0 tons per hectare. Thus, the larger area planted helped to offset the decline in yield.
Trends in Other Crops
The department also reported that the rapeseed harvest in England amounts to 722,000 tons, which is 5.5% more compared to the previous year. At the same time, barley production significantly decreased by 14%, down to 4.2 million tons.
“These figures reflect mixed results for agriculture in England, where the expansion of planted areas compensated for the decline in wheat yields, while barley experienced a significant drop.”
Overall, the results indicate a challenging situation in the agricultural sector of England, where success in wheat and rapeseed production is coupled with a reduction in barley cultivation.
