Czech Republic Predicts That Agreement with the USA on Minerals Will Strengthen Ukraine’s Security

The President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, expressed the view that security guarantees for Ukraine will include two important aspects: an agreement with the United States of America regarding minerals and support from European countries.

“If American businesses are present in Ukraine, one can expect that the USA will protect these interests,” he noted.

Furthermore, another important element of security guarantees will be a “coalition of willing” states that are ready to send stabilization military forces to Ukraine after a peace agreement is reached. At the same time, Pavel does not consider it appropriate to include Ukraine’s NATO membership in the security guarantee package, as US President Donald Trump has dismissed this possibility. However, according to Pavel, this issue should not be excluded from discussion: “Politicians come and go. We may see a different perspective under a new administration,” he summarized.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump has expressed a willingness to provide Ukraine with more weapons if the United States gains access to its natural resources. However, the realism of this plan raises doubts, as without achieving stable peace, resource extraction in Ukraine will remain virtually impossible. The use of Ukraine’s natural wealth will depend on the outcomes of the conflict in the east of the country.
