Dollar Exchange Rate in Ukrainian Banks: Forecast for Late May – Early June

The dollar exchange rate in Ukrainian banks is expected to change during the period from May 26 to June 1. According to forecasts, the value of the American currency will be within the range of 41.6–41.8 UAH per dollar. As of the evening of May 22, the average purchase rate of the dollar in banks was 41.18 UAH, while the selling rate was 41.74 UAH, indicating the possibility of further increases in the rate both during purchases and sales.

Exchange Office Rate Forecast

Similar trends are observed in the exchange office market. According to Taras Lesovyi, the director of the financial markets and investment activities department at Globus Bank, the dollar exchange rate in exchange offices will remain at the level of banks, with an expected range of 41.4–41.8 UAH. As of the evening of May 22, the average purchase rate of the dollar in exchange offices was 41.01 UAH, while the selling rate was 41.49 UAH.

Situation in the Currency Market and the Role of the National Bank

Experts indicate that the end of May in the currency market will proceed without significant changes, within the usual fluctuation limits, with no signs of panic among the population or market participants. At the same time, there is a gradual strengthening of the National Bank’s role in maintaining the balance between currency demand and supply. The banker notes:

“Thus, the situation in the currency market will remain within the expected scenario: demand and supply will be balanced, so any current exchange rate changes will be almost cosmetic and will not pose a threat. Currently, there are no signs of a possible rush.”

Therefore, market participants and citizens should not expect significant upheavals: the dollar exchange rate will remain stable, and any possible changes will be minor.
