Today, the conditions in the third decade of April were unsatisfactory for the development of winter cereal crops. At the same time, the existing infectious background of phytopathogens, against the backdrop of weakened and damaged crops, has created favorable conditions for the further development of a complex of pathogens on the plants in some areas. Therefore, specialists from Ukravit recommend paying increased attention to the protection of crops in the T2 phase.

Night frosts and the gradual increase in effective warmth, combined with varying degrees of moisture in different regions, have provoked the spread of diseases in winter cereal crops,” notes Oleksandr Myhlovets, head of the agronomy department at Ukravit. “In various regions, winter wheat, barley, and rye crops are affected by septoria, net blotch, dark brown and other types of blotches, brown leaf rust, and root rots with varying intensity. If it rains and the appropriate temperature regime is established, especially in dense crops with a high level of nitrogen fertilization, the situation may become critical. To ensure that these and other dangerous diseases do not lead to a reduction in potential yields, we strongly recommend taking care of effective protection for cereal crops in the T2 phase. After all, controlling diseases of the flag and sub-flag leaves is one of the key elements of the fungicide protection strategy for cereal crops.”

To protect winter cereals from major harmful diseases in the T2 phase, especially in regions with moderate and sufficient moisture availability, Oleksandr recommends choosing a fungicide with translaminar properties, Sinan (pyraclostrobin, 130 g/l + difenoconazole, 130 g/l). Thanks to the combination of active substances, it possesses preventive, therapeutic, and anti-sporulation properties.

Pyraclostrobin is a locally systemic fungicide that works by inhibiting electron transport in the mitochondrial respiratory chain and blocks the pathogen’s ability to breathe and produce energy. This active ingredient has protective and therapeutic properties; it can penetrate plant tissues and exhibit translaminar mobility, reaching the lower and inner layers of the leaf blade. Maximum effectiveness is achieved with preventive treatments. Difenoconazole is a systemic fungicide with protective and therapeutic properties that disrupts the dimethylation process during ergosterol synthesis, which is necessary for building fungal cell walls. It is absorbed by the leaves of the crops, moves within the plants, and provides a long-lasting protective effect.

Sinan reliably controls septoria, pyrenophora, rust, and blotches in barley. Treatment conducted in the T2 phase will ensure the healing of affected plants, protect the crops from infection by a complex of dangerous diseases, and guarantee long-lasting protection in the future.
