EIB Allocates Over €18 Million for Energy Modernization of Schools and Hospitals in Three Regions
The European Investment Bank has allocated €18.4 million for energy-efficient modernization of social infrastructure in three regions of Ukraine. This funding is part of the “Ukrainian Municipal Infrastructure Development Program” (UMIP) and will enhance energy efficiency in 28 educational and healthcare institutions.

Details of Funding Distribution
In the Volyn region, €4.2 million will be directed towards upgrading three key medical facilities. The city of Ternopil will receive €11.3 million for energy modernization in 20 schools and kindergartens. In addition to comprehensive insulation and modernization, all educational institutions in the city will install energy usage monitoring systems. In Zaporizhzhia, €2.9 million will be used for the reconstruction of five educational institutions, which will reduce energy losses and make the environment safer and more comfortable for students and teachers.
EU Support and Development Strategy
This funding is backed by a guarantee from the European Union under the Ukraine Facility instrument, which has a total volume of €50 billion. This approach underscores the EU’s systematic support for the restoration and modernization of Ukrainian infrastructure.
UMIP is a large-scale investment project with a budget of €400 million. The initiative provides funding for medium and large communities, focusing on the modernization of heating and water supply networks, improving energy efficiency in public buildings, and implementing modern waste management systems.
Thanks to this project, Ukrainian communities are receiving resources to improve energy efficiency, contributing to reduced energy consumption and enhanced comfort for residents.
