Electricity Supply Issues in Ukraine: Regional Situation and Call for Conservation
The situation with energy supply in Ukraine remains tense due to ongoing attacks by the Russian Federation on the energy infrastructure. As a result of nighttime shelling, as of the morning of October 7, several regions of the country have reported interruptions in electricity supply, and in the Chernihiv region, schedules for hourly power outages have been implemented.

Which Regions Are Without Power
As of this morning, parts of consumers in the Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Donetsk regions remain without electricity. The situation is most difficult in Sumy, where emergency recovery work is ongoing. However, the execution of these works is complicated by frequent air raid alerts. Local energy companies in Chernihiv are forced to implement hourly outages in two shifts to stabilize the load on the network.
“In the days leading up to and including today, Russia has once again attacked Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. As a result, as of this morning, there are consumers without power in the Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Donetsk regions. The situation remains complicated in Sumy. In Chernihiv, local energy companies have been forced to implement hourly outages in two shifts,” the message states.
Factors of Increased Consumption and Call for Electricity Conservation
Experts note that at 9:30 AM on October 7, the level of electricity consumption remained high and did not change compared to the previous day. The main reason for this was the cloudy weather in most regions, which reduced the efficiency of household solar power plants. As a result, the demand for electricity from the general grid increased.
Energy workers continue to restore damaged equipment; however, due to constant threats of air attacks, this work is often delayed. At the same time, Ukrainians are urged to consume electricity sparingly, especially during peak evening hours – from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM – and to avoid turning on powerful electrical appliances simultaneously.
