From January 1, 2026, the electricity tariff for residential consumers in Ukraine will remain unchanged at 4.32 UAH per 1 kWh. The government has extended the current tariff until the end of the heating season, which is until April 30, 2026. At this time, the issue of reviewing the electricity price is not being considered.

Opportunities for Savings through Multi-Zone Metering

According to Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 632, every consumer has the right to install a multi-zone meter and choose the corresponding tariff. For owners of dual-zone meters, the night tariff from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM is 2.16 UAH per 1 kWh, which is half the standard cost. During the day (from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM), the tariff remains unchanged at 4.32 UAH per 1 kWh. Thus, switching to dual-zone metering allows for significant reductions in electricity costs during the night period.

Prospects for Tariff Changes and Future Predictions

From time to time, rumors arise regarding a possible increase in electricity prices; however, currently, none of these scenarios are being considered at the official level. After the war in Ukraine, there may gradually be a move away from subsidizing all consumers through the PSO (Public Service Obligation) mechanism. Currently, the government resolution on PSO obliges suppliers to sell electricity at a fixed tariff.

“The cost of electricity is not limited by a moratorium. Therefore, it can be increased when the government makes the appropriate decision. This has already been done during the war. If Ukrainians paid from 2.64 UAH per kWh (depending on the volumes) until June 1, 2024, now the cost is already 4.32 UAH per kWh.”

According to forecasts from the Ministry of Economy, there may be an increase in tariffs over the next few years. In particular, in 2026, the price may rise by 10-20% to 4.75-5.18 UAH per 1 kWh. In 2027, the cost of electricity is projected to be at 5.22-6.2 UAH, and in 2028, from 5.7 to 7.44 UAH per 1 kWh. At the same time, these forecasts are not final and may change depending on the economic and energy situation in the country.

Thus, in the near term, a fixed tariff remains for the population, and potential changes in electricity prices will depend on government decisions and the overall market situation.
