As a result of a massive missile and drone attack on the territory of Ukraine on October 22, emergency power outages have been implemented in most regions of the country. These restrictive measures will continue until the situation in the energy system stabilizes.

Operational Situation in the Regions

According to the Ministry of Energy, energy workers have already begun emergency recovery operations in areas where the security situation allows. The ministry emphasizes that it is doing everything possible to restore electricity supply to consumers as quickly as possible.

“Emergency recovery operations have started where the security situation permits. Energy workers will do everything possible to restore electricity supply to all consumers as quickly as possible,” the ministry explains.

The Ministry also urges citizens to use electricity rationally to reduce the load on the energy system.

In Sumy region, emergency power outage schedules have been introduced by the National Energy Company “Ukrenergo.” Representatives of “Sumyoblenergo” note that the sole reason for such restrictions is the military aggression of Russia and damage to energy facilities due to shelling by the Russian army.

In Cherkasy region, emergency outage schedules have also been in effect since 07:55 on October 22. “Cherkasyoblenergo” asks consumers to understand the measures aimed at preserving the energy system and emphasizes the need for maximum energy conservation under current conditions.

State of the Energy System and Explanation of Restrictions

In Odesa region, occupiers again attacked an energy facility of DTEK at night, as reported by the company. Emergency outages have also been introduced in Kharkiv region due to damage to energy infrastructure.

In Prykarpattia, power limitation schedules (PLS) are being introduced for industrial enterprises and businesses, which will be in effect from 16:00 to 22:00 in full for five shifts.

Energy workers emphasize that emergency outages (EO) are an emergency measure applied in case of sudden electricity shortages. The list of addresses that may be disconnected is determined operationally, and the disconnection is carried out within 15 minutes after the order from the National Energy Company “Ukrenergo.” PLS, in turn, is a planned consumption limitation for the industrial sector aimed at reducing the load on the system.

EO is an emergency disconnection of consumers caused by a sudden electricity shortage in the energy system. As this is an emergency measure, it does not have predetermined hours and consists of a list of addresses that may be disconnected. EO is implemented within 15 minutes after the order from the National Energy Company “Ukrenergo.”

Energy workers recommend saving electricity throughout the day and avoiding simultaneous use of several high-power electrical appliances.
