Fake Vodafone Accounts Appear on Telegram: How Scammers Deceive Subscribers

Vodafone Warns Against Fraudulent Messages
The operator Vodafone emphasizes that it does not send any messages to its subscribers about the expiration of their numbers via messaging platforms. Company representatives strongly urge users to ignore such messages and not to follow any instructions contained within them to avoid becoming victims of scammers.
“Fake Vodafone accounts have appeared on Telegram, claiming ‘number expiration’ and asking users to replace their SIM. Do not believe it! We never communicate this through messaging platforms,” the operator’s warning states.
Official messages from Vodafone are only sent through verified channels. Customers can obtain up-to-date information regarding their number and services on the official operator’s website, in the My Vodafone app, or by calling the short number 111.
How Number Blocking Works at Vodafone
The company also explains that number blocking due to non-payment occurs only for contract subscribers and strictly under the conditions specified in the contract. Prepaid subscribers can continue to use free services even with a zero balance, and communication with them remains accessible.
The operator stresses that there have been no changes to the rules for providing services. Number blocking applies only to contract subscribers and occurs under clearly defined conditions stated in the signed contract. Prepaid numbers are not blocked for non-payment and operate on general terms.
