In October 2025, the cost of firewood in Ukraine significantly increased, surpassing the price levels recorded during the summer months. Experts explain this by the seasonal rise in demand, as well as the increased costs of harvesting and transportation.

How Firewood Prices Changed in Autumn

According to a forester from one of the forestry enterprises in the Kyiv region, Mykola Kovalenko, there were firewood stocks in August, which allowed prices to remain at a lower level. However, with the start of the heating season, the situation changed, and prices began to rise.

“In August, there was still some stock available, so prices were lower than at the beginning of the heating season. However, since the beginning of October, the cost of firewood has increased due to heightened demand, as well as costs related to harvesting and logistics,” Kovalenko said.

The Cost of Different Types of Firewood in October 2025

According to experts’ estimates, since the beginning of October, the price of firewood has risen by 200–600 hryvnias per cubic meter, depending on the type of wood. In August, hardwoods were sold at prices ranging from 1,700 to 2,200 hryvnias per cubic meter, and now their cost has risen to 1,800–2,600 UAH/m³.

Softwood at the end of summer cost between 900 and 1,100 UAH/m³, and now the starting price is at least 1,300 UAH/m³. Softwood species have also become more expensive: previously offered at 900–1,100 UAH/m³, now a cubic meter costs at least 1,300 hryvnias.

Experts predict that firewood prices may remain high until the end of the heating season, considering the constant demand and rising costs for logistics and harvesting.
