“As of May 2025, the overall increase in food prices reached 22.1%, while certain vegetables have increased in price by 3-4 times.”
The National Bank of Ukraine explains this rapid price increase by unfavorable weather factors – prolonged heat in 2024, lack of a snowy winter, and spring frosts in 2025, which negatively impacted the harvest of most crops.
At the same time, according to the regulator’s forecasts, the inflation rate may decrease in the near future. It is expected that the new harvest, stabilization of the energy sector, and a decline in global oil prices will contribute to curbing further price increases for food products.
