Fuel Prices at Gas Stations Increased by 6 UAH per Liter, No Shortage Expected — Naftogaz

In Ukrainian gas station networks, there has been a significant increase in fuel prices: gasoline and diesel have risen by an average of 6 UAH per liter since the start of the conflict in the Middle East. At the same time, according to the chairman of the board of NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” Serhiy Koretsky, there are currently no grounds for a fuel shortage.
Price Increases and Market Situation
Koretsky noted that the trend of rising gasoline and diesel prices is noticeable not only in Ukraine but also in many European countries. According to his assessment, the average increase in Ukraine is 6 UAH per liter, and reports of a price increase of 10 UAH are not accurate.
“The problem is not only Ukrainian but also European, I would say, global. The price at gas stations has not risen by 10 UAH; this is not true. Indicatively, it is 6 UAH,” said the head of Naftogaz.
The head of Naftogaz emphasized that the main task for Ukraine, as well as for other European countries, is to ensure stable supplies of light oil products and avoid any disruptions in their delivery. According to Koretsky, Ukraine has one of the most diversified fuel supply systems, allowing for the use of various sources and types of transport. For this reason, he stressed, there are no grounds for panic.
Actions of State Companies and Forecasts
Koretsky reported that the state company JSC “Ukrnafta” plays the role of a price regulator in the market during the crisis period. To stabilize the situation, the company plans to minimize markups to help navigate the challenging period without sharp price spikes. In his opinion, the current surge in demand, which has caused an increase in fuel sales, is temporary and will not lead to a market shortage.
President Volodymyr Zelensky announced at a briefing that agreements have been reached at the highest levels of government with the companies “Naftogaz” and “Ukrnafta” regarding their operations during the crisis period without profitability to support market stability.
According to the latest data, since last Saturday, gasoline and diesel in the largest gas station networks have increased by 5–6 UAH per liter. Due to increased demand, some networks have temporarily suspended subscription services or significantly limited the volume of fuel purchases in mobile applications.
The main reason for the sharp price increase is attributed by experts to the surge in demand, which arose against the backdrop of news about the war in Iran. Director of the Consulting Group “A-95” Serhiy Kuyun noted that in recent days, fuel sales volumes through retail networks have increased by approximately 50%, with some gas stations reporting even higher figures. At the same time, fuel reserves in Ukraine remain sufficient, and there are currently no grounds for a shortage.
