Wholesale gasoline prices in the Russian Federation are showing a sharp increase, at times exceeding one thousand euros per ton. The main factor driving up fuel costs has been attacks by Ukrainian drones, which have led to new historical highs in oil market prices in Russia.

Exchange Records and Price Dynamics

As of the trading results on September 16 at the Saint Petersburg Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, the price of A-92 gasoline rose by nearly 2%, reaching 73,144 rubles per ton, marking a new historical high. Since the beginning of 2025, the price of this brand of gasoline has increased by 43%. The price of A-95 gasoline also rose – by 0.9% over the past day, reaching 79,410 rubles per ton, although it remains below its historical record of 82,382 rubles per ton.

Reasons for the Price Increase and Market Impact

Experts emphasize that the current price level is far from the limit for the Russian fuel market. According to Russian publications, gasoline delivered by tanker trucks in small wholesale is already costing 90,000 to 100,000 rubles per ton. Considering the current exchange rate of the ruble to the euro, this means that the wholesale price of fuel exceeds one thousand euros per ton.

“Such an excess over exchange prices is caused by regional fuel shortages and long unloading times for contracts on the exchange,” notes a source from the publication.

A similar situation is observed in the diesel fuel market. Experts predict that this will ultimately lead to further increases in fuel prices at gas stations in Russia.
