Import of Tomatoes from Azerbaijan to Ukraine Increased Fivefold in 2025

In the first nine months of 2025, Ukraine imported significantly more tomatoes from Azerbaijan: volumes increased fivefold, totaling 167 tons. This popular vegetable is traditionally grown in Ukrainian gardens, but this year’s demand for foreign tomatoes has substantially increased.

Growth of Azerbaijani Tomato Exports

In monetary terms, the supply of tomatoes from Azerbaijan to Ukraine from January to September 2025 increased by 4.3 times, reaching 187 thousand dollars. However, the main importer of Azerbaijani tomatoes remains the Russian Federation, which purchased 97.4% of the total tomato exports from this country.

Moscow acquired 97.4% of the total export of these vegetables. During this period, 139,251 tons of tomatoes were supplied to Russia – 21% more than last year – for a total of 150 million dollars.

In addition to Ukraine, Azerbaijani tomatoes were also actively exported to other countries:

  • Belarus increased its purchases by 2.1 times – to 2.31 thousand tons, spending 5.1 million dollars.
  • Poland boosted its imports by 2.5 times – to 642 tons, totaling 956 thousand dollars.
  • Exports to Georgia increased 28 times – to 1,588 tons, amounting to 1.1 million dollars.

Restoration of Exports to Kazakhstan and Overall Figures

In 2025, Azerbaijan resumed tomato exports to Kazakhstan after more than a two-year hiatus, sending 13.5 thousand tons of tomatoes worth 16.83 thousand dollars.

As a result, in the first nine months of the current year, Azerbaijan increased its total tomato exports by 23% – to 144 thousand tons. The export value also rose by 12%, reaching 157.2 million dollars.
