Increase in Pension Payments in May: Who Among Ukrainians Will Receive Supplements

In May 2025, some Ukrainian pensioners may expect an increase in pension payments due to the accrual of age supplements. Monthly supplements are received by those who have reached the ages of 70, 75, or 80, provided that their pension does not exceed 10,340 hryvnias.

Supplement Amounts for Different Age Groups

Pensioners who have turned 70 receive a monthly supplement of 300 hryvnias until they reach the age of 75. Individuals aged 75 to 80 are entitled to a monthly supplement of 456 hryvnias. Citizens who are 80 years old and above can receive an age supplement of 570 hryvnias.

It is worth noting that for those who have reached 90 years of age, current Ukrainian legislation does not provide for additional age supplements.

Features of Supplement Accrual and Average Pension Amounts

Pensioners whose pensions were assigned in April and who reach the appropriate age in May will receive a supplement not for the entire month, but proportionally based on the number of days remaining after their birthday.

As of April 1, 2025, the average pension amount in Ukraine has increased to 6,341.11 hryvnias, which is 9.5% higher than at the beginning of the year (5,789.05 UAH), and 10.5% exceeds the figure for the same period last year (5,743.28 UAH).

The highest average pensions are recorded in Kyiv — 8,708.03 UAH, in Donetsk region — 7,813.93 UAH, and in Luhansk region — 7,314.01 UAH. The lowest payments are received by pensioners in Ternopil region — 4,930.93 UAH, Chernivtsi region — 5,100.02 UAH, and Transcarpathian region — 5,174.80 UAH.
