International Brands Actively Open Stores in Ukraine During the War
Despite the ongoing war, the Ukrainian retail market remains attractive to global brands. Over the past two years, international companies have been actively opening stores in various cities across the country, expanding their presence amid changes in the retail structure.

New Openings of Famous Brands in Ukrainian Cities
The Polish chain Worldbox is preparing to launch its first store in Ukraine. The retail space, covering 400 square meters and specializing in clothing and accessories from leading brands, will soon open in Izmail, Odesa region.
In July, the first store of the well-known Turkish denim brand Mavi opened in Chernihiv. The new retail outlet has an area of 328 square meters and offers a wide range of products for Ukrainian consumers.
Expansion of Global Chains
In May, a store of the Czech franchise chain Captain Candy, which specializes in selling sweets, opened in Kyiv. Additionally, in January, a Karl Lagerfeld Jeans store – a subsidiary line of the famous fashion house Karl Lagerfeld – started operating in the capital.
In September 2024, the American footwear brand UGG opened its first flagship store in Kyiv. Prior to this, the company operated only through small retail outlets in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Dnipro.
“At the same time, in November 2023, the Polish clothing and home goods retailer HalfPrice entered the Ukrainian market, opening a flagship store of over 1,800 square meters in the capital. Currently, there are already six HalfPrice stores operating in Ukraine: three in Kyiv and one each in Odesa, Lviv, and Chernihiv.”
These examples demonstrate that even in conditions of instability, international brands see prospects for business development in Ukraine and continue to invest in opening new stores.
