Jaguar Land Rover Suspends Vehicle Deliveries to the US Due to New Tariffs

The British company Jaguar Land Rover, specializing in the production of luxury vehicles, has announced the suspension of deliveries to the United States of America. This decision, which will last for one month, is related to new trade conditions, specifically the introduction of a 25% tariff on imports.

Relevant information was provided by JLR for release to the American media. In Ukraine, the company has over 200 dealerships, all of which are temporarily suspending operations for a period of one month.

“The US is an important market for JLR’s luxury brands. However, while we are working through new trade conditions with our business partners, we have to take short-term measures, including the suspension of deliveries in April. We are also developing medium- and long-term plans,” said a company representative.

It is worth noting that a 25% tariff on all foreign vehicles imported into the US has been in effect since last week. The administration of former President Donald Trump explained this decision as a desire to support American manufacturing and preserve jobs.

In 2024, Jaguar Land Rover sold 430,000 vehicles worldwide, about a quarter of which were sold in North America.

Not only JLR has reacted to the new customs duty conditions. The German automotive giant Volkswagen has also announced that customers in the US will have to pay extra for deliveries exceeding the suggested retail price, although specific amounts have not yet been disclosed. Mercedes-Benz, for its part, is considering halting the sale of budget models in the US and raising prices on luxury vehicles, hoping that American consumers will shift to more expensive options.
