Milk Product Imports Exceeded Exports by One and a Half Times in October 2025
In October 2025, Ukraine’s foreign trade in dairy products reached $53.0 million, which is 1.4% higher than in August, when the volume was $52.2 million. This result indicates a slight increase in the overall turnover in the dairy market.

Dynamics of Dairy Product Exports and Imports
In October, the volumes of Ukrainian dairy product exports amounted to $21.2 million, which is 2.4% higher than in September. However, this figure remains 8% lower than the August level, when exports totaled $23.0 million. The export structure in October was as follows: cheeses accounted for 30%, butter for 25%, and milk and condensed cream for 24% of the total export volume.
Compared to October 2024, the export structure has changed little, although the shares of butter and condensed milk and cream have slightly decreased. Specifically, the share of butter decreased from 30% to 25%, and the share of condensed milk and cream fell from 25% to 24%.
Import Indicators and Trade Balance
The volumes of dairy product imports in October remained at the level of the previous month, totaling $31.8 million, which is just slightly more than in September ($31.6 million). At the same time, compared to August ($26.2 million), imports increased by 20.5%. In terms of import structure in October 2025, all types of cheese predominated, making up 79.6%, while butter accounted for 6.4%, and fermented dairy products for 5.3%.
The import structure in October 2025 was virtually unchanged from the figures of October last year, indicating stable demand for these categories of dairy products.
“In October, export volumes slightly increased to $21.2 million (+1.4%), but remained at a low level. Import volumes remained unchanged at $31.8 million — the highest for 2025. Imports exceeded exports by 1.5 times,” the SMPU summarized.
The balance of foreign trade in dairy products in October, as in the previous month, remained negative at –$10.6 million (in September –$10.9 million, in August –$3.2 million). The ratio of export to import volumes in October was –0.66, in September –0.65, while in August this indicator was positive at +0.88.
