Milk Production in Ukraine Decreased by 7% in October 2025

In October 2025, Ukraine experienced a decline in raw milk production: farms of all ownership forms produced 567 thousand tons, which is 45 thousand tons less (–7%) compared to September 2025 and 29 thousand tons less (–5%) compared to October 2024.

Production Dynamics from January to October 2025

In the first ten months of 2025, the total milk yield in Ukraine amounted to 5.87 million tons, which is 271 thousand tons less (–4%) than in the same period last year.

“From January to October 2025, the milk yield in Ukraine was 5.87 million tons, which is 271 thousand tons less (–4%) compared to the same period last year,” specialists state.

Contribution of Different Categories of Farms and Regional Dynamics

In October 2025, enterprises accounted for 47% of raw milk production, while households contributed 53%. Enterprises produced 264 thousand tons of milk, which is 15 thousand tons less (–5%) compared to the previous month, but 22 thousand tons more (+9%) compared to October 2024. From January to October 2025, dairy farms produced 2.64 million tons of raw milk — this is 187 thousand tons more (+7.6%) than in the same period of 2024.

In households, the milk yield in October 2025 was 303 thousand tons, which is 31 thousand tons less (–9%) than in September 2025 and 51 thousand tons less (–14%) compared to October of the previous year. The household sector produced 3.22 million tons of milk in the first ten months of 2025, which is 457 thousand tons less (–12%) than last year.

Among the regions, agricultural enterprises in the Zakarpattia region (+38%), Khmelnytskyi region (+22%), Lviv region (+20%), Kharkiv region (+16%), Ternopil region (+12%), Rivne region (+11%), and Mykolaiv region (+10%) showed the most significant increases in raw milk production compared to last year. Overall, dairy farms increased their milk yields in 16 regions of the country.
