Main Reasons for the Price Increase of Dairy Products
Analyst Maksym Hopka from the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club reported that the price of dairy products may rise by another 4–5% in the coming weeks. The average price of milk currently stands at 52–60 hryvnias for 900 ml, sour cream at 48–55 hryvnias for 350 g, and butter at 100–120 hryvnias for 200 g.
According to the expert, the key factor driving up prices is the reduction in the supply of raw milk in the market. This is related to the seasonal decrease in milk yields in the fall, when the period of “big milk” comes to an end.
Impact of Exports and Livestock Reduction
Another factor contributing to the price increase is the active export of Ukrainian dairy products. Additionally, military risks and low profitability of production affect pricing. As a result, many farms are forced to reduce their dairy cattle, which decreases by 6–7% each year.
“Due to low profitability and military risks, many farms are reducing their dairy cattle – the herd decreases by 6-7% each year. The reduction in raw materials leads to an increase in purchase prices for milk, and consequently – for finished products,” explained Hopka.
Thus, the shortage of raw milk and increased demand in the export arena are creating a trend for further price increases for dairy products in Ukraine in November 2025.
