Purchasing Prices for Pork in Ukraine Have Fallen to a Yearly Minimum
The purchasing prices for live pigs in Ukraine are demonstrating a record decline: during the week from December 8 to 14, 2025, they will drop to 70-71 UAH/kg, which is 5.4% lower compared to 74-75 UAH/kg this week.

Factors Influencing the Pork Market
Experts explain that the price decrease is influenced by the rising epizootic pressure both domestically and in the European market. Of particular note is the first outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Spain in 30 years, which has led to the blocking of some export certificates from that country. Industry experts point out that ASF is no longer just a local problem but is turning into a pan-European threat that affects market expectations and regulatory decisions in many countries across the continent.
“For Ukraine, the main driver of price pressure remains the domestic situation — the increase in the number of outbreaks and the forced sale of livestock, which creates an oversupply,” the specialists explained.
Price Dynamics in Europe
Regarding the European market, at the German VEZG exchange, the price for conditioned pig halves is forecasted at EUR 1.60 per kg (78.75 UAH/kg excluding VAT) for the next week, while the price for sow halves is EUR 0.80 per kg (39.38 UAH/kg excluding VAT). At the Polish CennikRolnicze exchange, the average price for live pigs is 4.61 zloty/kg (53.48 UAH/kg), with a price range for live pigs of 4.00-5.50 zloty/kg (46.4-63.8 UAH/kg).
“Pork from Ukraine could take its place in the global market and stimulate the development of the meat industry and pig farming in Ukraine,” the experts concluded.
