Rabbit Production in Ukraine’s Industrial Sector Increased by 30.6% in 2024

As of the beginning of 2025, the total rabbit population in Ukraine remained almost at the same level as the previous year — 3.88 million heads, which is only 0.3% lower compared to the same date in 2024.

Changes in Rabbit Keeping Structure
At the same time, in households where the majority of rabbits are concentrated, a decrease in population of 1.3% was recorded. As of January 1, 2025, there were 3.73 million rabbits kept here. Industrial enterprises showed significant growth: in 2024, their rabbit population increased by 30.6% compared to the previous year, reaching 144.8 thousand heads, of which 7.8 thousand belong to farms.
Leaders in Rabbit Numbers by Region
By region, Kyiv region ranked first in the number of rabbits across all categories of farms — 577.1 thousand heads. Following are Zhytomyr region with 459.3 thousand and Odesa region with 347.2 thousand heads.
The State Statistics Service clarifies that the statistical data do not include temporarily occupied territories and regions where hostilities have occurred or are ongoing, under the control of the Russian Federation.
As reported, in 2023, 9.7% fewer rabbits were sent for slaughter.
