Ukrainian Companies Prepare for New Integration Challenges
The Executive Director of the Union of Dairy Enterprises of Ukraine (SMPU), Arsen Didur, emphasized that during the annual conference of the European Dairy Association (EDA), held in Utrecht, key issues and prospects for the industry were discussed. According to him, the event brought together leading leaders, experts, scientists, and technological innovators from various European countries to discuss current challenges and collaboratively shape a vision for the future of the dairy market.
Arsen Didur highlighted the significant potential of the European dairy industry and underscored the readiness of Ukrainian enterprises for further integration into the European market.
“Partnerships, responsibility, technological solutions, and a sustainable approach are becoming the tools that will allow us to create a modern and competitive sector in the long term. We thank all participants, speakers, and partners for meaningful discussions, new ideas, and a shared vision. The EDA Conference 2025 is concluding, but the work on the future continues every day. Ukraine is unconditionally integrating into the unified ‘lactosphere’ of the European Union,” added Arsen Didur.
Geopolitical Challenges and the Role of Science in Industry Development
During the conference, special attention was paid to issues of geopolitics, the impact of climate change, and the internal challenges faced by European countries. EDA President Albert de Groot emphasized that the war in Ukraine demonstrates the use of food products as a weapon, highlighting the complexity of the global food supply system. He noted that local production and consumption have certain appeal but do not address the problem at the necessary level.
Delegates also discussed the impact of trade wars and supply chain blockades on exacerbating internal problems in countries, as well as the rise of nationalism and populism. In such conditions, the role of the food industry becomes even more crucial for the stability of society.
In addition to discussions, scientists and representatives from leading universities presented innovative research and possible scenarios for the development of Europe’s dairy industry. All speakers emphasized that science will be the driving force behind innovations that will have a practical effect for farmers, processors, and consumers.
The Ukrainian delegation at the conference was represented by the Chairman of the Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy of the Verkhovna Rada, Oleksandr Haiduk, Executive Director of SMPU Arsen Didur, and Eurointegration Advisor Maksym Fastiev.
