Quality Issues and Response from Ukraine
In September 2025, the quality of Ukrainian eggs became a topic of discussion in Europe. In particular, the French Egg Industry Organization (CNPO) stated that Ukrainian products might contain antibiotics banned in the EU. In response, the executive director of the “Union of Poultry Farmers of Ukraine,” Serhiy Karpenko, emphasized that the information in European media was presented with a distortion of facts, and batches of eggs with antibiotic residues did not reach French supermarkets.
“The incident was somewhat distorted in the European press, and batches of Ukrainian eggs with antibiotic residues could not have reached French supermarkets in any way.”
At the same time, Karpenko refuted the assumption of intentional discrediting of Ukrainian products by French producers.
