NBU to Issue Silver Commemorative Coin Dedicated to Ivan Marchuk and Plontanism

The National Bank of Ukraine has announced the start of sales for a silver commemorative coin with a denomination of 10 hryvnias, dedicated to the unique artistic technique of plontanism created by Ivan Marchuk. The new coin, titled “Plontanism (Ivan Marchuk),” is set to be available from May 27 at a price of 5,876 hryvnias per unit. There is a restriction for each buyer – no more than one coin per person.

Characteristics and Exclusivity of the Release

The commemorative coin is made of 925 silver, with a precious metal weight of 31.1 grams. The year of minting is 2024. The edge of the coin is smooth with recessed inscriptions. The total mintage is only 7,500 pieces, and each coin is sold in a special case that emphasizes its value and exclusivity.

Coin Design: A Combination of Art and Symbolism

The obverse of the coin features a fragment of the painting “Awakening,” created by Ivan Marchuk in 1992. To the right of the composition on a matte background are the words “UKRAINE” and the small State Emblem of Ukraine. The reverse includes a fragment of the same painting – an image of a girl with a blue and yellow ribbon on her head, standing against the backdrop of the blooming vastness of her native lands. This image symbolizes the awakening of Ukraine, captured in the art of the outstanding Ukrainian artist.
