Design Features and Characteristics of the Coin
The coin is made from a zinc-based alloy with a nickel coating and has a denomination of 10 hryvnias. The total mintage is nearly 10 million pieces. The obverse of the coin fully corresponds to the circulation coin of this denomination from 2018: in the center, the denomination, year of issue, and the State Emblem of Ukraine are depicted, framed by ancient Russian ornamentation.
The reverse of the coin features a stylized composition of police officers from various units, symbolizing courage, professionalism, and dedication to service. At the top of the coin is the emblem of the National Police — an octagonal star with a small State Emblem of Ukraine, and around the edge are inscriptions: at the top — “National Police of Ukraine,” and at the bottom — “To Serve and Protect.”
“Ten years ago, patrols of the new police first took to the streets of the country, opening a new chapter in the development of Ukraine’s law enforcement system. The issued coin is not just a means of payment, but a symbol of gratitude and respect for the police officers who serve and protect every day,” the National Bank states.
Release Details and Souvenir Sets
The reverse design of the coin was created by Alisa Ivanova, and the obverse by Volodymyr Dem’yanyenko. In addition to cash circulation, part of the coins will be presented in the form of souvenir rolls of 25 pieces each. These rolls are packaged in special paper featuring the emblem of the National Police against the backdrop of the state flag of Ukraine. The total mintage of souvenir rolls is 20,000 units.
