The NBU press service reported that the coin was put into circulation in November 2024. It is made of nickel silver, and the edge of the coin has a ribbed texture.

“The commemorative coin is dedicated to one of the twelve animals of the Eastern calendar. The snake is the sixth sign of the Chinese zodiac, symbolizing flexibility, intuition, and calmness. It embodies deep knowledge, prudence, adaptability, and survival in any conditions,” the description of the coin states.

The coin is sold in special souvenir packaging, and the limit for one buyer is 1 piece.

Design of the Coin “Year of the Snake”

On the obverse of the coin, on the front side, there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine, and above it, in an arc, the word “UKRAINE” is inscribed. On a mirrored background, 12 symbols of the Eastern calendar are presented. In the center of the circle, there is a stylized clock with an arrow pointing to the snake – the symbol of the year. Above the arrow, the inscription “2025” is located. At the bottom left, it states “5 HRYVNIAS.” On the matte background, stylized symbols of the four seasons are present: a snowflake at the top, a flower on the right, a berry at the bottom, and a leaf on the left.

Reverse of the Coin

On the reverse of the coin, in the center of the composition, there is a symbol of the Eastern calendar for 2025 – a snake, designed in the shape of a hexagon. The snake’s tail is curled, resembling a sabre. Surrounding the snake are stylized symbols representing each season: snowflakes at the top right, flowers at the bottom right, fruits at the bottom left, and branches at the top left.
