Power outages last up to 16 hours due to Russian strikes on the energy system
In Ukraine, the duration of power outages in most regions has increased to 12-16 hours per day. This was reported by the head of the “Ukrenergo” management, Vitaliy Zaychenko. The reason is the large-scale attacks by the Russian Federation on the energy infrastructure that occurred on the night of December 6.

Challenging situation in the energy system
After the latest massive strike on the country’s energy facilities, restoring the energy system requires significantly more time than before. According to Vitaliy Zaychenko, the periods of power outages have lengthened compared to previous days and may last for several weeks.
“Unfortunately, now the outages last not until 8 PM, but probably until 12 PM or 16 PM in most regions of Ukraine… Due to the strikes on the energy system, the duration of outages has increased.”
Restoration of electricity supply and recommendations for consumers
Zaychenko emphasizes that the state of the energy system remains extremely challenging, and restoring the full operation of the power grid will take not days, but weeks. He stresses that consumers themselves can help energy workers stabilize the situation as quickly as possible. To do this, it is necessary to consciously reduce electricity consumption, especially during peak load hours.
Ukrenergo calls on citizens to be supportive and adhere to the electricity saving regime to reduce the load on the damaged system and accelerate its recovery.
