Price Increase for Pasta Products Expected in Ukraine in December

Ukrainian consumers can expect another price hike in the coming weeks – this time for pasta products. Following the autumn increase in the cost of grain and flour, the market is responding with a corresponding rise in the price of finished products.

What Will the Price Increase for Pasta Look Like

As noted by the president of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation, Leonid Kozachenko, the rise in flour prices inevitably leads to an increase in the cost of pasta. By December of this year, prices for pasta products may rise by 3–5%. The first to feel this will be consumers of products from Ukrainian manufacturers, while imported pasta will become more expensive with a certain delay — approximately two months later.

“Prices will definitely go up. However, it won’t be a significant increase; it’s a small percentage. Typically, prices rise within a month. They correlate almost directly with the rise in raw material costs. Flour has recently increased by a small percentage, around 3-5%. So, a similar increase can be expected in December for pasta,” said the expert.

Main Reasons for the Price Increase of Pasta Products

According to Leonid Kozachenko, the increase in pasta prices is not only related to the rise in grain and flour prices. One of the key reasons is the significant increase in logistics costs, particularly freight railway tariffs. Additionally, the risks of rising electricity prices, linked to Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, exert further pressure on production costs. All these factors are gradually being factored into the final product price.

Despite this, the expert reassures consumers — a sharp price jump, for example, by 20–30%, should not be expected. The increase will be gradual and moderate, as the market is merely responding to changes in the cost indicators of raw materials and production expenses.
