Revenue of Ukraine’s catering establishments increased by 5% in the first half of 2025

Domestic catering establishments recorded a 5% increase in revenue in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period last year. The most significant growth was observed in Lviv, which demonstrated a revenue increase of 7%.

Visitor Dynamics and Average Check

Despite the positive revenue trend, the attendance at restaurants and cafes decreased by 9%. An exception was made for sushi establishments, which managed to maintain the attendance level of 2024. In other segments, the decline in the number of guests ranged from 7% to 16%.

The average check in catering establishments rose by 17% and amounts to 171 UAH. The largest increase in the average check was recorded in bars (+19%, to 476 UAH) and coffee shops (+18%, to 108 UAH). In cafes, the average check reached 307 UAH (+17%), in restaurants – 675 UAH (+17%), in pizzerias – 324 UAH (+16%), in bakeries – 82 UAH (+14%), and in sushi establishments – 670 UAH (+12%).

Reasons for Revenue Growth

The increase in revenue in the catering sector is attributed not to a rise in demand, but primarily to price increases. Ukrainians are forced to pay more for the same dishes as before.

The research is based on the analysis of anonymized and aggregated sales data from 8,800 catering establishments of various formats across all regions of Ukraine.
