Russia launched missile strikes on substations of the Khmelnytskyi and Rivne Nuclear Power Plants

On the night of November 8, the Russian Federation carried out a massive missile strike, resulting in attacks on the substations that supply electricity to the Khmelnytskyi and Rivne nuclear power plants.

Massive attack on energy infrastructure

As reported by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha in his statement, the shelling of the substations was a targeted and well-planned action. According to him, Russia is deliberately creating a direct threat to nuclear safety across the entire European continent, endangering not only Ukraine but also neighboring countries.

“During today’s attacks, Russia again shelled the substations that supply electricity to the Khmelnytskyi and Rivne nuclear power plants. These were not random, but well-planned strikes. Russia is deliberately jeopardizing nuclear safety in Europe. We call for an urgent convening of the IAEA Board of Governors to respond to these unacceptable risks.”

Call to the international community

The minister specifically appealed to all countries that advocate for adherence to nuclear safety standards. In particular, Sybiha urged China and India to firmly demand that Russia cease its dangerous attacks on nuclear energy, which could have catastrophic consequences for the region and the world.

According to him, it is necessary to unite efforts to increase global pressure on Moscow to force it to abandon its policy of nuclear blackmail.
