Chernihiv and Neighboring Regions Experience Widespread Outages
According to Deputy Minister of Energy Olha Yukhymchuk, as of the morning, over 75,000 consumers in the Chernihiv region remain without power. Significant disruptions in electricity supply are also observed in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions, where some settlements are completely or partially without electricity. Energy workers are conducting emergency recovery operations to restore electricity to residents of the affected areas as quickly as possible.
“There are also settlements in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions that are completely or partially without power. Emergency recovery operations are ongoing,” reported the Deputy Minister.
Difficult Situation in Kyiv and Odesa Regions
Olha Yukhymchuk explained that in several districts of Kyiv region, on the left bank of Kyiv, and in the Odesa region, it has not yet been possible to restore scheduled hourly outages. The reason for this is the significant number of attacks on energy facilities, which have led to varying degrees of damage to infrastructure in these regions. Energy workers are working continuously to address the consequences of the destruction and stabilize electricity supply.
In addition, emergency recovery work has been completed on one of the power lines that provides external power to the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant from the Ukrainian energy system. According to Yukhymchuk, this will ensure a more stable and reliable power supply to the Zaporizhzhia NPP in the event of damage or disconnection of the “Dnipro” overhead line due to further shelling by the occupiers.
