A Scheme for Shadow Export of Grain Exposed in Ukraine for Over 630 Million UAH

Prosecutors of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, together with law enforcement officers, uncovered an organized group engaged in large-scale tax evasion during the illegal export of agricultural products.

Scheme of Illegal Grain Export

The investigation established that the owner of an agricultural firm, along with an accountant and a manager, organized a mechanism for legalizing illegally obtained agricultural products. The grain was purchased in cash without reflecting the transactions in accounting records and tax reports. Subsequently, the products were exported through controlled foreign companies and fictitious enterprises, without returning the foreign currency earnings to Ukraine.

“Grain was purchased in cash without being recorded in the accounting and tax reports. The total amount of funds received is 636.9 million UAH. Of this, the participants in the scheme did not pay over 114.6 million UAH in taxes,” the statement clarifies.

Seized Property and Preventive Measures

During searches of the suspects, mobile phones, computer equipment, company seals, and 30,000 USD in cash were seized. An arrest was placed on the property of the case participants totaling 21.5 million UAH, which includes six apartments, three cars, a land plot, and seized funds.

“The court set bail for the organizer of the group at 7.57 million UAH, for one of the participants at 242,000 UAH, and for another participant — a personal obligation. The investigation into the organized criminal group is ongoing, and investigators continue to establish all the circumstances of the case and possible accomplices.
