The fuel market in Ukraine continues to operate without interruptions and has sufficient resources to meet consumer demand. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolisnyk.

Diversification of Supply and Logistics Stability

Thanks to the diversification of supply routes, Ukraine has been able to ensure stable logistics for light petroleum products. As noted by Mykola Kolisnyk, various routes and modes of transport — road, rail, and maritime — allow for a quick response to any changes and avoid dependence on specific infrastructure facilities. In the event of local restrictions, the market quickly shifts to alternative routes, ensuring continuous fuel supply for consumers.

January is traditionally a period of low fuel consumption; however, the current situation in the country, particularly the active use of generators, supports stable demand for fuel. According to Kolisnyk, demand is fully met thanks to the coordinated efforts of the government and market operators.

Imports, Domestic Production, and Quality Control

Since the beginning of the year, over 344 thousand tons of fuel have already been imported into Ukraine. At the same time, domestic producers play a significant role in supplying the market.

“Traditionally, January is a period of low seasonal consumption. However, the current realities, particularly the active operation of generators, sustain demand for fuel. Despite this, thanks to the coordinated actions of the government and market operators, this demand is consistently met,” emphasized Mykola Kolisnyk.

The Deputy Minister also emphasized that the current logistical situation in the market does not cause either shortages or price fluctuations. The price of fuel is influenced by many factors, including global prices and tax policy, but logistics is not a risk factor for price stability or product availability.

Kolisnyk reminded that Ukraine has a state monitoring system for fuel volumes and quality, as well as a system for minimum reserves of oil and petroleum products. The administrator of the electronic reporting system is the State Enterprise “Market Operator,” which allows the government to control market balance, promptly track fuel quality, and respond in a timely manner to potential threats or crises.
