Tourism Recovery and Warsaw’s Records

The Polish tourism sector continues to recover, demonstrating strong demand for hotel services. Hotel occupancy in the country has reached around 70%, and revenue per available room in major cities exceeds pre-pandemic levels. Warsaw remains the center of tourist flows: in 2024, the city was visited by 12.2 million people, which is 10% more than the previous year. The capital of Poland holds leading positions in the hotel market with over 8 million booked overnight stays. The Masovian Voivodeship is home to about 240 hotels, 40% of which are located directly in Warsaw. Here, 15 out of 16 five-star hotels in the country are concentrated.

Tourist Profile and Reasons for Popularity

The vast majority of visitors to Poland in 2025 (68%) are citizens of the country; however, 32% are foreign tourists, with the largest number of guests coming from Ukraine, the USA, Germany, and the United Kingdom. The increase in tourist flow significantly impacts the retail sector, particularly in central Warsaw. According to research, foreigners account for 22-25% of retail turnover in the central areas of the capital. Tourist spending is primarily directed towards clothing, food, luxury goods, and entertainment.

In addition to leisure, Warsaw also attracts business travelers due to its modern conference infrastructure and numerous industry events. About one-third of foreign guests come to the capital for business purposes.

The trend of “cooling down” is becoming increasingly popular. More and more tourists are choosing Poland over warmer countries in Southern Europe.
