Trump Warns of Sanctions for Russia if Putin Does Not Reach a Peace Agreement

U.S. President Donald Trump, during a meeting with reporters at the White House, expressed the possibility of imposing secondary sanctions against Russia, which could affect countries purchasing Russian oil. Trump noted that such a step would be taken if Russian President Vladimir Putin “does not do his job.” However, Trump is confident that Putin will adhere to the agreements and will ultimately agree to stop the conflict.

“I want him to make a deal so we can stop the killing of Russian soldiers, Ukrainian soldiers, and other people. I do not want to impose secondary tariffs on his oil, but I think I would do so if I believed he was not doing his job,” the U.S. president emphasized.

According to analyst Clyde Russell, Putin may make significant concessions to Trump if he believes in the seriousness of his threats. These threats could lead to the loss of the last two buyers of Russian oil – India and China. Therefore, in the near future, Russia, India, and China will try to determine how serious Trump’s intentions are.
At the same time, India has intensified its search for additional oil supply sources in the regions of the Middle East, North Sea, and Mediterranean to reduce dependence on Russian energy resources.
