Turkish Companies Plan to Buy Up All Dried Fruit Harvests from Tajikistan

In Tajikistan, the apricot harvesting season began in early May, and this year’s yields, according to producers, are characterized by stability and significant volume. As of mid-May, the price for fresh apricots in the domestic market started at $1 per kilogram. This price ensures the competitiveness of Tajik products, although it remains dynamic, changing throughout the season.

Growing Demand for Dried Fruits from Tajikistan
Producers note that the range of apricot varieties is updated every 10–14 days, which requires detailed planning of logistics processes and export operations. However, the main focus of this season is on dried fruits, which are actively capturing the international market due to their high quality and stable supply volumes.
Tajik dried fruits have particularly attracted the attention of companies from Turkey. Turkish traders, facing internal supply difficulties and contract fulfillment issues caused by the “apricot apocalypse” of 2025, have started to actively enter into direct agreements with Tajik producers. They are not only interested in large batches but also impose strict requirements regarding quality, sorting, and packaging of the products.
“Buyers from Turkey are currently arriving and want to purchase the entire volume of dried fruits produced. They provide clear quality parameters that they are willing to buy from our enterprises. Traditionally, the cheapest raw materials go to Russia, while the highest quality goes to Turkey. I believe that the volumes of dried fruit exports to Turkey will increase,” says international expert in the fruit and vegetable business Bakhtiyor Abduvohidov.
Prospects for Tajik Producers
Industry experts predict that demand for Tajik dried fruits in Turkey could increase by 20–30% in 2025. This opens new opportunities for Tajik enterprises and allows the country to solidify its status as one of the largest exporters of dried fruits in the world. Favorable climatic conditions in Tajikistan and the implementation of modern processing technologies play a key role in this process.
At the same time, for sustainable export growth, producers are advised to invest in product certification and updating packaging lines. Such actions will help meet the high standards of the Turkish market and strengthen the positions of Tajik dried fruits on the international stage. The growing interest from Turkish companies indicates the strengthening role of Central Asia in the global supply chain of dried fruits.
