Damage to the Traction Substation and Actions of Railway Workers

In Chernihiv region, the traction substation of “Ukrzaliznytsia” was hit as a result of shelling. By night, energy services began work to eliminate the consequences of the destruction. However, during the repair work, the enemy again attacked the restoration site with drone means. Thanks to the monitoring system, the personnel were evacuated to a safe zone in advance.

“By night, railway energy workers started to address the damage, but the enemy directed UAVs to the restoration site. Thanks to the monitoring system, the workers were timely taken to a safe place – there are no casualties,” noted Kuleba.

Thanks to the prompt actions of the railway workers, train movement did not stop: reserve locomotives were deployed to ensure continuous communication.

Attack on Port Infrastructure

In addition to railway facilities, Russian forces also attacked port infrastructure. As a result of the shelling, some buildings and premises of the ports were damaged. Fires broke out, which were promptly localized.

During the shelling, port workers were in shelters, so there were no casualties among them. Currently, some ports have temporarily suspended the acceptance of trains: transport movement is organized in such a way that trains are dispersed across the network and depart at the first opportunity.
